Hydro-optics by Maxence Duterne
Hydro-optics is an art installation by Maxence Duterne. A plant cutting taken from Ghent's sidewalk releases debris and microorganisms into the water. This water circulates in a one-way flow, moving these particles by siphon through a visible tube from one container to another. The drops fall in front of a focused laser beam. Each drop acts as a tiny lens. The light is projected onto the wall, where every organism or particle present in the water appears as a small, moving shape.

Made from dicarded electronics, PLA, used medical equipment and glass, this installation creates a live projected microscope in wich you can observe moving organisms inside a decaying plant. Maxence Duterne is a Belgian multidisciplinary artist and designer whose work bridges natural systems, technology, light scenography and material culture. Developing a fascination for generative organic forms. He investigates technological disobedience and consumerism.
