(Be)Schermen is an interactive exhibition about the screens that surround us every day. It explores how technology shapes the way we view the world and one another. Screens act as windows that connect us to people, stories and knowledge, but can simultaneously become walls that shield us from what lies right beside us. Through a series of installations, photographic images and participatory works, the public is invited to reflect on the subtle influence of technology on our lives. Themes such as the attention economy, digital dependency, algorithmic control, online identity and the ecological impact of technology are not merely explained, but made tangible. Through humour, alienation and playful interaction, mechanisms that are often invisible are made tangible. Visitors are not merely spectators, but also users, players and co-creators. By touching, activating and exploring the works, they become part of the story. (Be)Schermen offers no definitive answers, but opens up a space for wonder, conversation and critical reflection. It is an exhibition for both young people and adults, which invites them, in an accessible and playful way, to reflect on our relationship with technology and the place that screens occupy in our daily lives.
