Drawn to Robots
North Star presents Reachy Mini from Hugging Face alongside DOBOT Magician, a robotic arm that draws portraits on paper. The installation explores how robots can become part of artistic practice, connecting algorithms, physical movement and image-making.
North Star brings two robots into an artistic setting: Reachy Mini from Hugging Face and a DOBOT Magician drawing robot. The DOBOT produces drawings, including portraits, making the path from programmed movement to a physical image visible. Reachy Mini offers a second perspective on the forms robots can take. Together, they open up questions about authorship, intention and the role of machines in creative work. The installation connects to (Algo)Rhythm through programmed motion and image-making. It invites visitors to reflect on how algorithms shape what we create and how we experience it, and on the roles we want robots to play in our cultural life.
