Citographer
Citographer explores sensing technologies as mediators between people, machines, and their surroundings. It asks what happens when technology becomes part of our everyday environment and how its design shapes our interactions. Visitors watch as their voices and touch are translated into data, mechanical movement, and a collective drawing. The resulting trace becomes a situated map of temporary human–machine interactions, reflecting the festival’s theme of (Algo)Rhythm.
Citographer is an interactive installation that turns voices and touch into a continuously evolving drawing. Visitors can pick up one of objects and speak near it. Their activity sets a pen in motion across a rotating paper, where individual contributions gradually meet in one collective trace. Nothing is recorded or stored. Each voice exists in the system only for a moment before disappearing, leaving behind a material trace of the encounters that unfolded around the installation. Citographer is developed by Weronika Gajda as part of her interdisciplinary doctoral research across the Faculty of Architecture and the Faculty of Engineering Technology at KU Leuven in Ghent.
