LIMEN by Oleksandr Sirous
Step into LIMEN, an interactive game installation set in a strange world where insects, machines and fragments of human technology have learned to live together. Explore its changing landscape through a handheld device and discover the stories hidden within it.
What happens to our technologies after the world they were made for has changed? In LIMEN, you enter POST-LIMEN: a speculative world where humans are no longer present, but their traces remain in machines, signals and stories. Drones move through forests, small creatures carry unfamiliar objects, and old communication systems have become part of a new landscape. Using a handheld LIMEN device, you can explore this world, encounter its inhabitants and experience it from different perspectives. As you move through the environment, you are invited to notice the connections between its creatures and machines — and to imagine what your own presence might mean to them. The work grows out of Ukrainian artist Oleksandr Sirous’s research into landscapes transformed by Russia’s war against Ukraine, and the unexpected ways technology and living environments become connected. Through games, sound and storytelling, he creates spaces where visitors can explore how our actions shape the worlds around us. LIMEN is for anyone curious about games, art and imagined futures. You don’t need to bring anything or have previous gaming experience.
