AnyBodies
AnyBodies aligns with the (Algo)Rhythm theme by using algorithms and motion‑tracking to make the experience embodied and intuitive. Each visitor’s movement becomes the main parameter shaping the projections, creating an “invisible” algorithm. We evoke agency by showing how every action affects the system. The work explores a responsive space where sensorial human experience and digital logic continuously influence one another.
With AnyBodies we are developing the third part of our trilogy The Bodies, a series exploring intimacy, proximity and identity across physical and virtual worlds. We are creating an interactive installation in which choreography, video, scenography and technology are tightly interwoven. Visitors move through a space filled with screens that show multiple layers of projections. The video images overlap, visual fusions appear; performers seem to pass through one another, observe themselves, or inhabit another body. Blended faces, bodies clashing or merging together; the installation gives way to an alternate reality that allows for a different type of closeness and intimacy. Through motion‑tracking and live‑editing technology, visitors influence the composition of these overlapping images in real time. Their movements directly affect the visibility and interaction of the virtual bodies, making them co‑directors of the experience. In the research for AnyBodies, we collaborate with transmedia designer Gertjan Biasino to test tracking tools and live‑editing software, developing prototypes that explore interactivity and audience agency.
